Surefire Flirting Tips

Before you ever get to the full-blown stage of communication, you will probably need to flirt a bit, whether you’re a man or a woman. Here are some guidelines, particularly for men, for successful flirting, and the signs you should be looking for.

Probably the number one thing to look for is body language. For example, does she lean forward when she talks to you? Does she laugh a lot, even if you’re not being particularly funny? Did you notice that she found an excuse to touch you (like picking at lint on your shirt or better yet, fixing your hair)? Also pay attention to whether she paused while doing those things. That’s actually a sign of encouragement for you to reciprocate the touch.

Be suave, cool and don’t show off. No one likes a show off. While some men believe that being loud is the best way to gain a woman’s attention, thinking that this is alpha male behavior, it’s not. Alpha males don’t need to be loud in order to attract attention to themselves. Flirt from a distance – eye contact, a coy smile, a tip of your glass. Catch her stealing glances your way or outright gazing and that’s your signal to approach her.

Verbal flirting is only part of the game, but still a part. Try not to use a pick-up line unless it’s obvious you’re being ironic and funny. Instead go for the truth – “I couldn’t help but notice your great smile,” or “Hi would you like to play the next game of pool?”

Don’t worry too much if she says no – she could be playing ‘hard to get’!! Don’t be discouraged. Smile, and let her know that you’re nearby and should she change her mind.

Flirting isn’t that hard; we’ve been doing it for thousands of years. The basics are always the same – be a genuine, nice person and not try to plot. When you become more practised at flirting, you’ll find that your confidence in both approaching new people and flirting will soar, and your dating life will improve tremendously.

Good luck in your dating adventures!
