Coping With the Emotions of a Break Up

As impossible as it may seem, coping with the emotional turmoil of a break up is absolutely necessary before you can successfully move on.

To begin, expect a a wide range of emotions.  You’ll have good days and bad days.  It’s a fact that people experiencing a break up go through the same emotions that someone grieving the death of a love one does.  In a sense that’s true, you’re grieving the loss of something important.

Depression is to be expected at some point.  perhaps it’s the emotion must guard against the most.

You don’t want to focus continualy on the relationship but you do need to get clear about the events around the relationship and its end.  Some people find it helps to use a journal.  This keeps your mind from going in endless circles and getting nowhere.

Write the history of your time together in a fairly objective fashion.
