Be More Romantic Than You Ever Thought Possible

You come home from a demanding day at the office and take a look around your house; dirty laundry is piled to the ceiling, dishes are crowding the sink, toys are scattered in every possible nook and cranny of the house, the baby is crying again and you haven’t even begun to think about dinner. He comes home from work after a long day himself and the last thing either of you wants to think about as you wearily flop on the couch in front of the television is trying to be “romantic”. Romantic thoughts just don’t come as effortlessly now.

Romance seemed to come easily earlier in the relationship, but now it just feels like a lot of work. Romance is what helps keep our relationships healthy and vibrant. It may take a little bit of extra planning and creative thinking, but a romantic weekend break may be just what your relationship needs to rekindle that sputtering flame.

A romantic weekend break does not need to involve spending your entire paycheck or booking a flight to Tahiti. Romance ideas can be conjured up in your own back yard. Try revisiting the places you used to hang out when you first started dating. Was it the gym you both were members at? A cozy cafe where you talked for hours? Perhaps a park where you used to take long walks by the river? Seeing those places again, the places where it all began can do wonders to add romance in a relationship.

Experiencing the great outdoors can be a great way to reconnect both with each other and mother nature. Never undervalue what a small amount of fresh air, physical activity and nature’s beauty can do for one’s soul. A moderately priced location to go for things like fishing, hiking, and camping (let’s not forget sitting by the fire) are state parks. If you are the more adventurous type try your hand at rock climbing, white water rafting or a ropes course. Just working together at a challenging activity has a way of bringing you both together and remembering how much fun you can have with each other.

Be a tourist in your own town. There are so many fascinating places right down the street that we never think to visit. Romance ideas can be closer than you think. Make it a priority to visit all the locally owned cafes in your town and try something different at each one to compare. Check out the bookstores in your area and spend the day reading to each other from your favorite classic, or looking at travel books of places you’d like to visit together. Antique galleries or art shows can be great places to go and can usually be found close to home.

With a little effort, a bit of creativity and maybe a small amount of planning you will be well on your way to spending a romantic weekend break with your significant other.
